Maureen Denise McCormick, youngest daughter and sole child of Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills on 5 August 1956. She was raised by an unemployed mother who worked as a housewife and a father who taught. Michael, Dennis, and Kevin are her three elder brothers. Beginning at a very early time, McCormick loved to sing and dance, and would frequently put on shows with puppets for the neighborhood children. The fairy tale began for McCormick at the age of six old. She was crowned the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest. She then received a phone call from Pat Domigan, a talent agent with the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to be a part of the business of show production. McCormick was chosen to play her first major role in 1964. McCormick appeared in a Mattel commercial featuring an adorable doll named Baby Pattaburp. Another commercial for Mattel was filmed in 1964 for the "Chatty-Cathy" doll. Soon after, McCormick was chosen to play the lead character of Wind It Up and It is Broken in the Playhouse at Playhouse in La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick is one of more than 1,200 children who auditioned, won the role of the youngest of three twins as part of The Brady Bunch. The show was a collaboration between Florence Henderson, Robert Reed and a newlywed couple. The run of five seasons of the show was a success. McCormick stated in her book of 2008, Here's The Story of Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice that she nearly lost her virginity during the fifth season of the show to Barry Williams, her co-star as well as her on-screen brother. He was 19. He was 16. She said that "it was likely to have happened" however the timing was not just right.
