Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen excelled at sports and was fascinated by rough and athletic sporting events. The passion she had for sport was coupled with an equally natural talent for doing shows. She won almost every Feis Award in the field of Drama and Theater Performance that her country had to give. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 in which she was able to pursue her dream of the opera stage and classical theatre. It was this path that would be modified when Charles Laughton, after seeing screenings of Maureen fascinated by her gorgeous eyes. Laughton as well as his co-star Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons names in to "Maureen O'Hara" which was a shorter name for the marquee before casting her as an actress in Jamaica Inn, (1939). Maureen FitzSimons' next movie (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame 1939) was to be filmed at RKO Pictures in America under the terms of a contract with Laughton. Her contract with Laughton was acquired by RKO following the epic film was such a hit. Maureen Laughton was on two motion-pictures before she reached 19 years old.
